Vice Admiral Kalwa Seppanen was the commander of the Star League Defense Force's 62nd Reconnaissance Squadron (the "Nebula Eyes") as of 2764.[1]

A Squadron commander with the SLDF's Sixth Fleet, Seppanen's flagship was the Aegis-class heavy cruiser SLS Black Templar, although his 62nd Reconnaissance Squadron tended to operate in small flotillas consisting of a single Bug-Eye surveillance ship and a single destroyer or frigate, rather than as a single force.
Seppanen did not get on with his fellow 6th Fleet Squadron commander Vice Admiral Trudel Larsen, and thus spend as much time as possible away from Fleet headquarters on Tantara where Larsen tended to lurk, going so far as to trade for parts with other fleet units so his ships didn't have to return to headquarters for repairs.[1]
