History[edit]
The Duchy of Tsitsang, a five-world province within the Sarna Commonality, was the hereditary fiefdom of House So for centuries. Its Duke or Duchess had the authority to overrule any of the people's requests.[1]
Sometime in the early thirty-first century, local residents were becoming restless and insolent with Duchess Karis So, frequently calling for appeals to any political issue she was involved in. When some rebels took up arms on the symbolically important world of Bora, Duchess So hired a mercenary company to raze their base to the ground to make an example of their disobedience, thinking that the commoners would be awed by her mighty display of force and settle down. This had the unforeseen effect of further emboldening the rebels.[1]
One peasant in particular, Josh Vorsythe, rose up and became known as the "man of the people" by acquiring a lance of BattleMechs and openly questioning Duchess So's rule. Worried that this would draw the attention of the House of Scions, she extended the mercenary company's contract to include eliminating him at his base on Ovan to prevent dissention from spreading throughout the duchy. Afterward, Duchess So noted the citizens had simmered down, either beaten into submission or given a healthy dose of reality.[1]
Notes[edit]
The Capellan Confederation was actually founded on St. Andre in 2367,[2] not on Bora in 2366 as mentioned in MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries.
