The Katinka system is the location of at least one planet.

System Description[edit]

Katinka is situated near Qalzi and Artru. It last appeared on a 3022 map that showed it to be part of the Aurigan Coalition,[1] a political entity itself teetering on the brink of collapse at the time, and vanished from maps afterwards.[2][3][4][5][6][7]

Planetary History[edit]

During the Periphery Uprising, an SLDF facility on Katinka became the target of an orbital mass driver attack which left a huge crater. Nearly three hundred years later, the planet's ecosystem was still badly disrupted from the event.[46] Despite the damage, Katinka was maintained as a Taurian holding at least through 2890,[21] though it was apparently abandoned shortly after 2890 as of the early thirty-first century, it was named as one of a number of systems abandoned by Taurian colonial rule for more than a century.[47] When the newly formed Aurigan Coalition opened annexation negotiations with those worlds in or shortly before 3022, the Taurian Concordat opposed the move,[47] which led to tensions that in turn precipitated the coup that established the Aurigan Directorate (which in turn was toppled by the Arano Restoration).

By ca. 3025, Katinka would still attract lostech prospectors and colonists.[46]

According to the (apocryphal) BattleTech video game, as of 3025, the primary industries on Katinka are agriculture and mining, and scavengers still comb the old battlefields for Star League-era technology.[48]
