Katrina Reban was famous defector, from the Draconis Combine to the Federated Suns, who participated in a Combine Chain Gang Mission during the lead-up to the Second Succession War.[1]

History[edit]

Early Life[edit]

A native of New Samarkand, Reban was born in 2797 to an Unproductive-class family who lived in a small village, until she answered the call of Combine officials who sought "true believers in the Kurita way". Unfortunately this was a euphemism for being recruited a comfort woman for the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery, and Reban spent until 2825 as a prostitute in a military brothel, until she was assigned to a Chain Gang raid against the Federated Suns world of Udibi.[1]

Chain Gang Mission[edit]

Allocated a barely operating 'Mech, on the way to Udibi Reban fell in love with a fellow outcast assigned to her mission, Talon Sergeant Jur Sturlaugson. During their failed raid, Reban and Sturlaugson were scattered, and Sturlaugson spent his time desperately searching for Reban as he fended off two Armed Forces of the Federated Suns 'Mechs. Finally locating her, as her 'Mech was about to be destroyed by a AFFS Marauder, Sturlaugson threw his 'Mech between the two combatants and took PPC fire intended for Reban.[1]

Defection[edit]

Moved by Sturlaugson's heroism, and once Reban explained their history the story of the two outcasts love, the AFFS MechWarriors spread the tale of Reban and Sturlaugson to the media. Once First Prince Paul Davion heard of the lovers plight, and especially that Sturlaugson had been assigned to the Chain Gang raid for refusing to participate in the Kentares Massacre, he granted them both Federated Suns citizenship.

Based on this grant, Reban and Sturlaugson both joined the AFFS, before later forming their own mercenary unit known as the Ever-Free. Their exploits as mercenaries, were also followed closely by the media within the Federated Suns, and they became a popular part of Davion cultural history.[1]

BattleMech[edit]

Reban was known to have piloted a Stinger BattleMech.[1]
