Kendali Morris was a Manei Domini who served in infamous Opacus Venatori,[1] prior to adopting the even more infamous persona of the Bounty Hunter during the final days of the Word of Blake Jihad.[2]

Overview[edit]

Word of Blake Career[edit]

One of the few remaining pure-blooded Zulu warrior-citizens of Terra's African continent by the Clan Invasion era, Kendali Morris was legendary among her native Zulu for her keen eyesight as well as her tracking and hunting skills. Morris was reportedly the only female warrior to capture and kill one of the genetically enhanced liions of the Serengeti plans, tribal tales claiming that she stalked the predator for three days before ambushing and wrestling it to the ground before tearing its throat out. Morris never confirmed if this actually occurred, but was rarely seen without a bone bracelet strung with liion claws.[1]

Ultimately joining the Word of Blake, Kendali Morris would join the Blakist ROM's elite Light of Mankind special forces unit, becoming one of its most deadly operatives and excelling in solo or dual-team missions. Morris' service record in the Light of Mankind featured a large number of top secret operations in both the Free Rasalhague Republic and the Ghost Bear Dominion, one of most notable being her acquisition of information that allowed the Word of Blake to replicate and manufacture the Heavy-Duty Gyro for their own use.[1]

Kendali Morris' LoM career would also be ended after a fateful explosion on Muphrid that cost her nearly half of face and jaw, Morris accepting the offer of extensive augmentation which led her to join the ranks of the Manei Domini and induction into the elite Opacus LoM unit of ROM directed by Apollyon. As of January 3069 Morris held the rank of Adept when at the direction of The Master Apollyon's Opacus and Precentor Martial Cameron St. Jamais's Venatori were combined into a single unit, in late 3068 immediately prior to this both units had sought to prove they were the better resulting Morris inflicting severe injuries upon Venatori Adept Marks during exercises on Terra.[3]

Reaching the rank of Zombie Demi-Precentor Delta as of 3073,[1] Kendali Morris was one of the members of the Opacus Venatori during Berith's mission to put an end to the Wolf's Dragoons reborn Black Widow Company under Stacy Church.[4]

Seeking to overcome his humiliating failure to prevent the Bounty Hunter locating former ComStar Precentor ROM Victoria Parrdeau and her secret filled journal for Chandrasekhar Kurita, upon learning Uncle Chandy was on the former Lyran Commonwealth capital of Arcturus preparing for Operation HIGASHIKUNI - a strike against the Hidden World the "Ruins of Gabriel" - Berith, Cassius Montague and Kendali Morris along with a strong Word of Blake invasion force struck the world seeking to eliminate Kurita and Bounty Hunter as well as recover Parrdeau's journal to preserve details of the Hidden Worlds. Thanks to the Opacus Venatori unwittingly focusing on a imposter deployed by the Bounty Hunter purely as a distraction the mission ended in failure, though this second disastrous failure was the seed for Berith's plan to get revenge on them both.[5]

Career as the Bounty Hunter and Death[edit]

At the height of the Jihad Kendali Morris would encounter and eliminate the holder of the Bounty Hunter persona at the time to adopt the role as her own. As the Jihad started to turn against the Blakists and recognizing as a member of the Manei Domini she would be one of highest priority fugitives sought by Stone's Coalition, Morris saw the anonymity of the identity not merely a means to an end on a mission for the Blakists but as a refuge as they collapsed in defeat. Operating completely solo and adopting strict silence in public to try and avoid revealing her identity, Morris undertook ever escalating assassination and kidnap contracts against her former faction in the Word of Blake Protectorate to prove her abilities. Unfortunately with her total silence being such a dramatic counterpoint to the quips and witticisms of Vic Travers and Walt Urizeman, all but confirmed a different individual had taken over the role, and that this change over occurred immediately after the assassination of Chandrasekhar Kurita reportedly at the hands of Bounty Hunter led to increased interest in digging into who was wearing the armor. Eventually the Republic of the Sphere was able to expose her identity.[2] [6]

BattleMechs and Equipment[edit]

As of 3073, Kendali Morris was augmented with two one-inch steel incisors that were implanted with a unique venom-delivery system, coupled with a myomer-enhanced jaw that exerts enough pressure to crack large bones in half, both her legs myomer prosthetics that were enhanced with MASC that made her a deadly infighter. Morris was also enhanced with Buffered VDNI, a Boosted Communications Unit and a Pain Shunt[7]

During her career with Opacus Venatori, Kendali Morris piloted a variety of BattleMech and OmniMechs. As of January 3069 and the merger of the then separate Opacus and Venatori, she piloted a C3i equipped SHD-7CS Shadow Hawk, but by October of the same year she received one of two prototype Celestial series OmniMechs provided to the Opacus for field testing during the unit's attempt to deal with the Ghosts of the Blackwatch, a 85-ton Seraph. By February 3070 and all the Opacus receiving Celestials, Morris received a Preta which she developed a unique configuration for, continuing to use Petra's setup for close-range combat during the Opacus Venatori's efforts against the Stacy Church-led Black Widow Company and while assisting Berith to eliminate Uncle Chandy on Arcturus.[3] [1] [5] [8]

Dubbed by Morris as "Spear", her Preta was one of the first prototypes from the Sekkaris Mekwerks on Mars, with her custom configuration outfitted with a Ramtech 3000V Small Variable Speed Laser, a Kinslaughter-4 Light PPC connecgted to a C4 Capacitor and ComGAT Target Acquisition Gear.[1] [9]

During her time as the Bounty Hunter she wore the signature PA(L) suit in public to help mask her identity, and when utilizing a 'Mech would pilot a Mad Cat Alt Config S painted in green with monetary symbols.[10]
