Knut Amano was a notable MechWarrior in the Seventh Legion of Vega during the Dark Age Era.[1]

Chu-i Amano was descended from Rasalhagian heritage and his grandparents escaped into the Draconis Combine after Clan Ghost Bear was invited to join the Republic of the Sphere. Clan Watch reports indicated that Amano's grandparents may have been members of Mimir, and Amano—while stationed on the Combine-Rasalhague Dominion border—spent considerable sums funding anti-Ghost Bear sentiments when not working for the Seventh Legion. It was considered unlikely that the Combine's Internal Security Force was unaware of his activities, although they were likely to continue turning a blind eye while the Combine's external enemies remained their focus.[1]
While stationed on Shionoha in the early 3140s, the Seventh Legion was forced to fight off a raid from the Dominion's 343rd Battle and Third Vega Regulars Clusters. Despite the Seventh Legion being badly hurt in the fighting, Amano delighted in finally being able to battle against the Ghost Bears. When the Third Regulars raided Shionoha once more in 3150, it was just in time to catch the Seventh Legion preparing to rotate to the front lines facing the Federated Suns. While the Seventh Legion was forced away from their DropShips by the attack, they nearly destroyed the Dominion's strike force. Amano personally destroyed three Bear warriors during the fighting in the planetary spaceport and a promotion to tai-i was possibly in his future.[1]
