Description[edit]
The Lament is a heavy BattleMech originally created for the Armed Forces of the Republic of the Sphere in late 3120s. Designed by Skobel MechWorks of Terra, the company created the design as a new hard-hitting attack 'Mech for the regiments of the Stone's Brigade. Its blend of firepower and armor has individuals comparing the 'Mech with previous designs such as the Warhammer and the heavier Awesome Assault 'Mech.[4]
Weapons and Equipment[edit]
The design features a blend of firepower, speed, and balance of armor protection. The heart of the 'Mech is its 325-rated VOX extralight fusion engine, with enough Double Heat Sinks to fire both its main guns with some heat left over. In addition to 15 Double Heat Sinks, the design includes an advanced tech Radical Heat Sink System to flush excess heat from the 'Mech's system. The 'Mech's hull is protected by 12.5 tons of Krupp 205 Light Ferro-Fibrous, giving it enough protection to withstand incoming fire as its pilot focuses on destroying an opponent. To allow for additional equipment, the Lament features an XL Gyro.
To achieve this 'Mech's principal focus in destroying its enemies, its weapons array is straightforward and to the point. The design's main guns come in the form of a pair of Magna Supernova Heavy Particle Projection Cannons, one per arm. Backing up the main guns is a trio of Diverse Optics Sunfire Extended Medium Lasers, one per side torso and in the head.[5][6]
Variants[edit]
- LMT-2D
- Being developed in 3147 by the Republic of the Sphere, this variant is based on the LMT-2R. The 2D is an experimental Drone Command Unit. Armed similarly to the 2R, with pairs of Heavy PPCs and ER Medium Lasers. The 2R features Angel ECM, Drone Command Console, and a Radical Heat Sink System. Its hull is protected by 12.5 tons of Light Ferro-Fibrous armor. BV(2.0)= 2,044[7][8]
- LMT-3C
- A variant with firepower on par with the ancient Awesome, the 'Mech comes with three Extended Range Particle Projection Cannons, mounted in each arm and left torso. While retaining the Radical Heat Sink System, the 'Mech loses its secondary weapons and receives a single Small X-Pulse Laser in the right torso. A C3 slave unit is fitted in the head to allow coordinate its firepower with other C3 lancemates. BV(2.0)=1,874[9][10]
- LMT-4RC
- Based on the LMT-3C, this version of the 'Mech uses a mix of Clan weaponry and equipment. The 4RC has four Clan-produced Improved Heavy Large Lasers in place of three ER PPCs. The 'Mech's Inner Sphere Double Heat Sinks are exchanged for twenty one Clan Double Heat Sinks, while retaining the 3C's C3 slave unit and Radical Heat Sink System. BV(2.0)=2,474[13][14]
Custom Variants[edit]
- LMT-2R Manes
- Used by Major Herman Manes of the XIV Hastati Sentinels, this variant of the Lament carries a Clan spec ER PPC in each arm, backed up by an Improved Heavy Medium Laser in each side torso. Heat is dissipated by nineteen Clan spec Double Heat Sinks. It uses a Compact Gyro for balance, and a C3 slave to share targeting information. BV (2.0)=2,297[15]
