Last Stand at Hanover was a 1997 browser game produced by Wizards of the Coast as part of the marketing for the BattleTech Trading Card Game expansion Mercenaries. It has since been taken down from their site, and when accessed via the Wayback Machine, it breaks down past mission assignment; the game is thus no longer available.
Overview[edit]
Last Stand at Hanover shows the July 3050 battle for Hanover from a Draconis Combine perspective. The player takes the role of a subcommander of the Hanover Militia, a Tai-i of player-chosen name under the command of Sho-sa Ryushi Hofmann.[1]
On 21 July 3050, a week into the Clan Smoke Jaguar invasion, the player is holed up in the Worldspine Mountains with only six 'Mechs on hand, trying to hold out until reinforcements can arrive from Pesht. Given orders by Tai-sa Tina Kiriko of DCMS Command, the player must assign their 'Mechs to three missions, aiming for success with the fewest casualties:
- A attack mission against a Smoke Jaguar artillery battery on Mount Armistice.
- A defense mission guarding a munitions plant at Ki-rin Point.
- A scouting mission trying to locate the Smoke Jaguars' temporary command center and gather intelligence on it.
The player has six 'Mechs to assign: an AS7-K Atlas, a CGR-1A1 Charger (piloted by Isis Polaris), a DRG-5K Grand Dragon, an HTM-27T Hatamoto-Chi, a CRK5003-2 Katana (piloted by Damon Willard), and an SDR-5V Spider.
