Planet(s)1[1]

The Lee system was home to at least one habitable world and as of 3151 was located in the Capellan Confederation.[1]

System Description[edit]

The Lee system is located near the Aosia and Vintru systems and is Rimward from Terra.[2][1]

System History[edit]

The Lee system was colonized at some time prior to 2305.[3]

Planetary History[edit]

Age of War[edit]

The first colony on Lee was founded by settlers from New Macao,[6] and Lee was a member of the Capellan Hegemony during the four decades the Hegemony existed. As a border world within the Capellan Hegemony, Lee was subject to heavy attacks from Kluanian pirates in 2305 and 2306. Hired by the Sarna Supremacy during the Capellan-Supremacy War, the pirates inflicted heavy damage on a number of Capellan border worlds, forcing the Hegemony to constantly redeploy troops to defend its worlds rather than continuing to stage attacks on Sarna.[3]

When the successor to the Hegemony, the Capellan Commonality, signed the Acala Pact with the Federated Suns in 2345,[5] Lee became a part of the Federated Suns.[6] In 2363, the Prime Minister of the Capellan Commonality, Seluk Tucas, recalled his brother from New Avalon - his brother being the Commonality Ambassador. The Ambassador vanished mysteriously on the way back to Capellan space, and Tucas used this as a pretext for a general mobilization amongst the nations he'd made allies within the Capellan Zone. By the end of 2363, the combined strike force included units from the Capellan Commonality, the Tikonov Grand Union and the St. Ives Mercantile League. The strike force represented the best of the armed forces from the various states, including the Capellan Reserve Cavalry, Morcock's Rangers, the Seluk's Principia, the First and Third Tikonov Lancers, Seneca's Fusiliers and the Prime Minister's household guards.[7]

The strike force landed on Lee only to discover that it had been betrayed; someone, most likely Premiere Alexi Nimzovich of the Sarna Supremacy, had given Reynard Davion of the Federated Suns warning of the impending attack. Davion had moved eight crack regiments to Lee in secret before the strike force landed, and the resulting two-day battle destroyed all bar a handful of units of Capellan infantry and armor.[7] The defeat on Lee resulted in a political crisis that removed Tucas from power, as well as enabling the Federated Suns to invade and capture seven assorted systems from the St. Ives Mercantile Association, and to launch attacks against several of the Tikonov Grand Union worlds - including Tikonov itself.[53]

Star League[edit]

Several warehouses on Lee were the subject of an SLIC investigation as to the whereabouts of supplies from the Terran Hegemony that were meant for the Sixth Army, but were never delivered.[54]

First Succession War[edit]

In 2792, Cochraine's Greencoats, a mercenary unit under the employ of the Federated Suns, would engage and defeat the defending Marion's Highlanders from the Northwind Highlanders on Lee.[55]

In 2812, the Ariana Grenadiers would raid a Davion fuel depot on Lee.[17]

Third Succession War[edit]

In 2930, the Federated Suns captured Lee, especially as Stukas from the Seventeenth Avalon Hussars defeated Capallen air lances from Hurloc's Hussars and Freemont's Cuirassiers. Lee would quickly become a regional supply hub and major repair center for aerospace fighters and increasingly rare Land-Air 'Mechs.[23][56][57]

In 2943, the Confederation learned several Wasp LAMs were being repaired on Lee and launched a deep raid to capture them. The Federated Suns were tipped off by a double agent allowing the LAMs to be repaired in time to meet the invading force. Unable to obtain space superiority, the Confederation DropShips fled the system.[58]

In 2948, the Hamilton's Highlanders and Lothar's Fusiliers were two of many regiments to make retaliatory strikes on Davion occupied Lee to help relieve pressure on Tikonov.[59][60]

In 2952, Chancellor Ingrid Liao again ordered an attack on Lee, hoping to secure the repair facilities for her realm. A massive force of two hundred CCAF aerospace fighters was dispatched, only to be devastated by the forewarned AFFS defenders. In what was afterwards dubbed the "Great Lee Turkey Shoot," the FedSuns pilots destroyed over forty Capellan craft and heavily damaged the rest, costing the CCAF a large number of veteran fliers.[61][62]

In 2987, Chancellor Tormax Liao would commit the last major reserves of Capellan forces to attack Lee. This attack was made to help relieve pressure on Tikonov as it had been attacked no less than six times that year for Federated Suns troops. After bitter fighting, the Capellan Confederation occupied Lee.[25]

In 2990, (apparently having recently lost the planet) House Liao attempted to invade Lee. Davion defenders managed to destroy landed Liao aerospace fighters on a field at "Durban" and this forced the Liao attackers to withdraw within a matter of hours.[26]

In 3022, Chancellor Maximilian Liao would meet with Michael Hasek-Davion on Lee in a secret meeting to hammer out future agreements between the two.[27]

Clan Invasion[edit]

Lee was the site of the most notable Lung Wang introduction to the Inner Sphere in 3055. In November of that year, a Liao fleet was opposed by a Syrtis Fusilier force, including an upgraded Avenger DropShip. The more maneuverable FedCom vessel was destroyed by the heavily-armed Cappellan.[37]

Jihad[edit]

Lee was one of ten worlds assaulted by the CCAF during the third week of March 3069, a wave of attacks that formed a part of Operation THUNDERSTRIKE, the Capellan counteroffensive against the Capellan March in defiance of Duke George Hasek's campaign Operation SOVEREIGN JUSTICE.[63]

Dark Age[edit]

Both the Second Liao Dragoons and the Third Capellan Chargers would attack Lee in feints and raids as part of Operation CELESTIAL REWARD.[64][65]

When the CCAF invaded the Capellan March in 3146 Lee was one of the targeted worlds. Attacked in late April by the Third St. Ives Sentinels, the First Brockton Training Battalion defending Lee managed to kill the Third's CO, prompting the enraged Sentinels to devastate the unit before securing the planet for the Confederation.[52]

Notes[edit]

  • House Liao (The Capellan Confederation) references the Federated Suns being in control of Lee in 2761 on page 85. However, this would be before the Amaris Civil War (27662779) and the SLDF would have resisted any fighting between member states at that time. Also, the fighting referenced would have been after the Third Hidden War (27412752) is recognized as being over. The information appears to be in error and is not referenced in this article.
  • Several sources list the "The Great Lee Turkey Shoot" as occuring in 2953. Later sources reference 2952 so this article is written to show the more recent information.
