History[edit]
As of 3025 at age 53, Gambetta was a lieutenant and lance commander in the Second Sword of Light, with an excellent reputation as a tactician throughout his regiment. Gambetta was also know for being a kind and considerate man, who showed great concern for his men. He was often assigned to lead the charge against heavily fortified position, a dangerous role which not many survive to reach Gambetta's advanced age.
By 3039, then Sho-sa Gambetta was commander of the lead company of the Second Swords third battalion, the oldest MechWarrior still on active service with the regiment, as well as its premier tactician. At this point however his 'Mech being upgraded from a venerable but cool running DRG-1N Dragon, to a hotter running DRG-1G Grand Dragon with a Lord's Light PPC, had exposed a gap in his otherwise elite piloting. Gambetta had as much trouble handling the heat curve in his new 'Mech as a cadet, his many years in a cooler 'Mech having left him with bad habits.[1][2][3]
BattleMech[edit]
Gambetta was known to initially pilot a city camouflage painted DRG-1N Dragon BattleMech until 3038, and then afterwards a DRG-1G Grand Dragon, which was gifted to him in recognition for his extensive and excellent service.[1][2][3]
