Liberty Proclamation
The Liberty Proclamation was declared by Alaric Ward, First Lord of the Star League and ilKhan of the Clans, on 7 July, 3152. In this address, Ward declared that the time of endless warfare that had plagued the Inner Sphere since the Usurper's downfall in 2779 had finally been ended with Clan Wolf's conquest of Terra, the establishment of the ilClan and revival of the Star League. He also exhorted the common people of the Inner Sphere to support the subsuming of their nations into the new League, and informed the House Lords that they had failed their peoples and should accept that their time was over.[1]
On 20 July messengers left Terra to spread word of the Liberty Proclamation.[1]
Quote[edit]
“ | Three hundred and sixty-eight years ago, on this day, General Aleksandr Kerensky led the Star League Defense Force into exile after having been betrayed by the people he and all his soldiers had sworn to protect. The years since have seen the horrors of the Usurper’s war magnified a hundredfold in your four Succession Wars, in the Word of Blake Jihad, and in the petty battles you fight even now.
Those days are at an end. I am Alaric Ward, Trueborn descendent of Aleksandr Kerensky himself, ilKhan of the Clans, and First Lord of the resurrected Star League. My Wolves have proven themselves ilClan. Terra is ours. The Republic of the Sphere is dead. Devlin Stone is dead. Those days are at an end. We have brought the Great Father home, and his spirit imbues every warrior of the Star League with one mission: to bring the light of the Star League back to the Inner Sphere, and make its brightness felt on every world, in every city, inside every home. It is the destiny of every man, woman, and child in the Inner Sphere to live under the aegis of the Star League. The corrupt, greedy leaders of houses great and small have failed in their duty to the people. Your mistakes and your pettiness have cost you the mandate you claim. All are welcome in the Star League. To the people of the Inner Sphere I say this: Speak to your leaders. Make them understand your desire to live a more free, more successful, more fulfilling life in the bosom of the Star League. To the leaders of the Inner Sphere, I say only this: Your time is over. Those days are at an end. Your duty to your people demands that you step gracefully aside and escort your people into the Star League. So long as a solitary individual of the most distant planet in the Periphery remains uneducated, impoverished, or disadvantaged, all are equally stricken. Those days are at an end. |
