Lindsey Klein was a notable MechWarrior in the Thirteenth Atrean Dragoons during the Dark Age Era.[1]
History[edit]
When a company of the Thirteenth Atrean Dragoons were hunted down by Clan Wolf on Rexburg, MechWarriors Klein and Krista Presteck volunteered to stay behind in order to buy enough time for their comrades to escape from the world. After challenging Star Captain Bangalter's light BattleMech and combat vehicle Binaries to battle, the two Dragoons demolished the weaker vehicle Binary by making effective use of their ELRMs and bounding cover to strike from afar without endangering themselves. As "The Battle of Rum Ridge" became a BattleMech-on-BattleMech conflict, Presteck was knocked out of the fight when her machine suffered immobilizing damage, leaving Klein to make a final stand against the four surviving Wolf 'Mechs. Klein dueled the Clan warriors within the confines of a large rum storage warehouse and successfully eliminated all of them in a clash that was marked by the occasional detonation of the structure's alcoholic contents. When the surviving Wolf forces investigated the aftermath of the battle, they found Klein's BattleMech still amidst the wreckage, despite his cockpit's armor remaining intact after enduring numerous SRM and LRM impacts. Inside of the 'Mech, Klein's corpse was discovered still gripping the controls of his machine—a combination of spalling and severe neurohelmet feedback had killed the Dragoon despite the survival of his 'Mech.[2][3]
Both Klein and Presteck were honored for their actions by Clan Wolf following the conclusion of the Battle of Rum Ridge. Klein's body was returned to the Free Worlds League Military with full military honors and his final battle against Bangalter's Binary was enshrined in Clan Wolf's Remembrance. Presteck was taken as a bondsman and later battled against the Lyran Commonwealth during the 3143 Battle of Tharkad.[1]
