Luukas Ranta was a former member of the First Altenmarkt Militia who went rogue, embracing a life of piracy.[1]
History[edit]
Luukas Ranta was a resident of the Rasalhague Military District that was drawn into service of House Kurita, assigned to the First Altenmarkt Militia. Like many from the region, he exhibited outspoken anti-Kurita attitudes which even his own general could not curtail. When the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery stepped in, he and his loyal followers fled into the outer reaches of the Combine, becoming known as Ranta's Bandits.[1]
Facing embarrassment that a high-ranking Combine warrior hailing from a unit intended to curb rebellious activity would show so much open disloyalty, the DCMS hired mercenaries to hunt the traitors not only to stop their activities, but to dissuade other Rasalhagians from a similar path. They tracked Ranta's subcommanders to Irece and Outer Volta, taking them out before cornering Ranta himself on a hidden moon base in the Unity system. Per the wishes of the Combine, he and all remaining deserters were eliminated despite fighting tooth and nail to the end.[1]
