History[edit]

Civil War[edit]

As Operation GUERRERO extended to Northwind, Loren Jaffray, descendant of a long storied Highlanders' family, offered William MacLeod the Capellan Confederation's help to achieve Northwind's full independance. The Federated Suns Consul on Northwind made serious mistakes, and the Battle of Northwind began. MacLeod's Regiment was divided between loyalists to the Federated Suns and independents, both factions led by Major Chastity Mulvaney and MacLeod, respectively, but when they fought, they avoided killing each other. When Colonel Drew Catelli's plan to blow up half of Tara was uncovered, both factions joined forces against the Federated Suns, and with the help of Stirling's Fusiliers, they disarmed the trap and destroyed the Suns' forces.[1]

Wayside V[edit]

A battalion of the Regiment was contracted by the Draconis Combine to garrison Wayside V. It must have arrived after Stirling's Fusiliers had taken the planet from Clan Smoke Jaguar forces, but the Battle of Wayside hadn't gone as expected, as the planet had the full-strength Tau Galaxy. Mulvanery's forces' arrival, however, proved decisive: they landed on 8 August, when the Jaguars were poised to crush the weakened Fusiliers. The battalion's charge on the Jaguars' rear forced them to break off their attack, giving time to Clan Nova Cat forces to arrive, changing the tide of the battle.[2]

Operation Serpent[edit]

In 3061, MacLeod's Regiment participated in Task Force Serpent assaulting the Smoke Jaguar city of Pahn on Huntress, taking the factory producing BattleMechs and ProtoMechs, suffering a heavy Smoke Jaguar counterattack shortly afterwards. By the end of the campaign, the majority of the regiment had been destroyed.
