Marissa Groh was the commanding officer of the Second Arkab Legion during the War of 3039.[1]

In late 3039, Tai-sa Groh and the Second Arkab Legion were tasked with liberating the Draconis Combine world of Fellanin II from the occupying forces of the Eridani Light Horse's Seventy-first Light Horse Regiment. Due to a series of misunderstandings, the Seventy-first Light Horse had no infantry or armor support and were completely unaware of the Second Arkab's imminent arrival until the moment Groh's unit arrived in-system on 23 August. Groh further worsened the Seventy-first's position when she managed to contact the surviving members of Fellanin II's original defenders—including elements of the Fourth Proserpina Hussars—with orders to strike every ELH position on Fellanin II just as the Second Arkab made planetfall. The Proserpina Hussars, although small in number, successfully pinned down the Horsemen in Fort Jinjiro long enough for Groh to bring the full force of the Second Arkab into the fight, leading to a non-stop battle that lasted for five days.[1]
On the evening of 2 September, Groh managed to force a battalion of infantry through Fort Jinjiro's defenses, weakening the ELH's perimeter enough for her to launch a final push. The Light Horse took significant casualties in the confusion of their retreat and Groh's continuing refusal to let up on her offensive made it impossible for the ELH to recover any personnel whose positions had been overrun. The Seventy-first would leave Fellanin II to the Combine on 3 September but it would take until February 3040 for some of its lost members to be repatriated—even then, not all of the Horsemen reported as missing or captured during Fellanin's fall were returned at the war's end.[1]
