System Description[edit]
Marlette is located close to the Barstow and Goderich systems[4][5] and consists of a class K2V primary orbited by at least three planets. During the thirty-first century, a recharge station was in place at the system nadir jump point.[1][2]
System History[edit]
The Marlette system was colonized during the First Exodus from Terra.[6]

Marlette III, more commonly known simply as Marlette, was once the capital of the Marlette Association, a small post-Terran Alliance interstellar polity.[6]
Planetary History[edit]
Originally a member of the Marlette Association, Marlette is a Davion frontier world on their border with the Capellan Confederation. It is habitable, with a breathable atmosphere, water and vegetation. It served the Federated Suns as a logistical and training center, and during the thirty-first century was the capital of both the local administrative region and the local Armed Forces of the Federated Suns Combat Region.[2]
First Succession War[edit]
Marlette was invaded during the first half of the major invasion into the Federated Suns launched by the Draconis Combine in May 2787.[15] By 2797 the Goderich system, which had been conquered in the second wave of the massive invasion of the Federated Suns by the Draconis Combine, was back under Federated Suns control and was home to the remains of three regiments who had withdrawn from Kentares or systems nearby: the Third Deneb Light Cavalry, the Seventh Crucis Lancers and the Twentieth Syrtis Fusiliers. When word reached Goderich of the massacre being conducted on Kentares IV by Coordinator Jinjiro Kurita, the three regiments became the first Armed Forces of the Federated Suns units to break ranks and launch furious, vengeance-driven attacks against nearby Combine forces, beginning in October 2797. Other units were soon doing the same, and by November the vengeful AFFS units had broken through the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery defenses on both Logandale and Marlette, returning both systems to Federated Suns control. This was the beginning of a resurgence across the AFFS that would eventually lead to the Combine invasion being turned back, and the majority of the conquered Federation worlds being liberated.[16]
Third Succession War[edit]
The defenses of Marlette included the ostensibly impregnable Fort Bourgogne. Fort Bourgogne was successfully raided by forces from McCarron's Armored Cavalry twice, first in 3022 and again in 3044, after being rebuilt and despite having its defenses improved. To advance on the fortress, the attackers had to cross the Bern River at the narrow Stannic Bridge, a lostech artifact spanning three miles. Archibald McCarron expressly forbade his men destroying the bridge in both of their assaults.[39]
Military Deployment[edit]
Geography[edit]
Marlette has three continents named Flint, Saginaw, and Sanilac.[2]
Planetary Locations[edit]
- Achemar: The planetary capital city, located on Sanilac.[2] The local combat region was named the Achemar Combat Region after the city.[1]
- Fort Bourgogne[54]
- Jericho City[55]
- Stannic Bridge: a Lostech bridge over 3.5 miles long built by the SLDF[54]
- Staval: a city and major spaceport[54][1]
