System Description[edit]
The Mayetta system is located near the Junior and Sylvan systems. It contains at least five planets and lies Spinward from Terra.[2]
System History[edit]
The Mayetta system was colonized in 2387 when the JumpShip Yallah, as part of a three ship convoy carrying more than ten thousand colonists, suffered a K-F Drive accident while traveling through the system. While Mayetta V was not the type of exact world the colonists were looking to settle on, all the colonists decided to settle on Mayetta rather than leave thousands of their fellow colonists in dead space alone for months or potentially years.[1]

The world of Mayetta V, or simply Mayetta, is a cool, mostly self sufficient world that did not have much outside help early in its history. Its education system is poor and medical facilities only have the most basic capabilities. But, the world is rich in mineral wealth and exports raw materials for much needed money. Mayetta also serves as the headquarters world of the Mayetta PDZ in the Draconis March of the Federated Suns. Though this has brought the world some notice, the citizens of Mayetta mostly keep to themselves.[1]
Planetary History[edit]
Star League[edit]
During the Star League era, the world was chosen by DoME, Department of Mega-Engineering, as a candidate for terraforming. The extensive costs of the terraforming were greatly offset by the massive mineral wealth discovered on world as well as on the planet's two moons. Both the moons and the world itself were the site of sizable Star League Defense Force bases to defend the large investments in mining and terraforming equipment.[36]
Civil War[edit]
In 3063, Leftenant General Jason Yalos, commander of the Mayetta Draconis March Militia, contacted Baron Tancred Sandoval to pledge his support to Victor Steiner-Davion. Previously, Yalos had supported Katherine Steiner-Davion and Baron Sandoval recognized an opportunity, but also recognized the risk to Mayetta. Baron Sandoval, with elements of the Third Crucis Lancers and the Seventh Crucis Lancers, left for Mayetta.[37]
On 7 March 3063, Baron Sandoval arrived on Mayetta only to find the pro–Katherine Steiner-Davion Milligan DMM and Bremond DMM had arrived on the world before him and had already taken large portions of the planet in response to Yalos changing his allegiance. The Baron and his forces quickly joined the Mayetta DMM and attempted to push back the pro-Katherine forces. Unfortunately, Jason Yalos was more a political appointee interested in his own power rather than a competent military commander. Over the next month Baron Sandoval would fail to secure victory due to the incompetence of Yalos and his forces multiple times. To avoid a losing battle when his forces where needed elsewhere, Baron Sandoval left Mayetta on April 14th with many members of the Mayetta DMM going with him, but left Jason Yalos behind.[37]
Two weeks later, the pro-Katherine forces defeated the remnants of the Mayetta DMM and took Jason Yalos prisoner.[37]
Military Deployment[edit]
Geography[edit]
The planet's atmosphere is tainted with a higher than safe CO2 level. Two moons, Forsin and Big Rock, orbit Mayetta and are also rich in minerals leading to extensive mining operations on both.[1]
