Description[edit]

The MechWarrior Pilot Deck: Mercenaries of the Inner Sphere II supplement was created by Catalyst Game Labs as a reward item available during their crowdfunding effort for the BattleTech: Clan Invasion crowdfunding campaign which ran from 18 July 2019 to August 18 2019. A number of decks described as premium MechWarrior Pilot Cards were announced as being in development, with the first two packs being unlocked when the US$310,000 funding target was reached. By the end of the campaign five such Pilot Decks had been announced; Mercenaries of the Inner Sphere II wasn't announced until after the campaign had ended, and was created as a free reward to offset the shipping cost for pledges.

Contents[edit]

This deck consists of 55 Pilot Cards detailing characters from a range of Mercenary Commands. One side of each card has the standard Pilot Card entry; the other side depicts a character illustration commissioned for one of the Kickstarter backers. Each pilot's name, nickname and quote was also based on detail submitted by Kickstarter backers.

  • MechWarrior Pilot Deck: Mercenaries of the Inner Sphere II is in the interesting position of being the released sequel to the cancelled MechWarrior Pilot Deck: Mercenaries of the Inner Sphere I. Although Mercenaries of the Inner Sphere I was announced on the crowdfunding campaign page, it was one of the decks due to be shipped in the second wave of the campaign fulfilment, MechWarrior Pilot Deck: Mercenaries of the Inner Sphere II being created by CGL and issued free to all backers during wave one fulfilment to help offset the shipping cost. Unfortunately the sheer volume of work the decks required and with time running out for wave two fulfilment resulted in CGL cancelling all remaining outstanding decks like Mercenaries of the Inner Sphere I and including the cards finished at that time into a single replacement deck MechWarrior Pilot Deck: Heroes of the Clan Invasion.[1]
