Mission Description

Holloway: Major. Commander. We are about to make planetfall on Butler. I am patching through the General's address, already in progress…

Winfield: …wish I could tell you even who it is we fight. We only know that it is a new enemy, this Clan Jade Falcon, and part of a much larger whole. A new enemy fighting with new tactics, new technology, and an embrace of warfare the likes of which the Inner Sphere has not known for centuries. We have been handed a defeat on Winfield, yes, but one battle is not the whole war. We expected – we hoped – to find safe haven on Butler, but this world, too, has come under attack by Jade Falcon forces. The front for this invasion is far wider than we believed. But the forces of Butler are fighting back, and we will join the fight. With our combined forces, we will drive the Clan back! This war has only just begun! Prepare for landing! Prepare for war!

Holloway: Butler too… Well, you heard the general. We're going in.

Beckman: Commander, since Hammer Lance has been destroyed, you are authorized to re-organize and re-arm your unit as you are able. You will be given access to the regimental quartermaster; but we are currently low on supplies. You will have to make do for the time being.

Holloway: We're landing near the city of New Glasgow. You'll have to clear the area of enemy recon units to establish a beachhead, and make contact with our local forces, if possible.

DURING MISSION

Holloway: Heads up, Commander. We have multiple Clan units moving on your position.

David: I doubt they're here to roll out the red carpet.

Kyle: We'll stop them.

Northrop: *STATIC* …top DropShip, Camp Northrop to DropShip, do you hear us? We saw you touch down!

Holloway: We read you, Camp Northrop.

Northrop: Welcome to Butler, sir. We've been lying low since the invasion, but your landing has drawn the enemy's attention. We'll need some help out here if they come for us.

Holloway: Understood, Camp Northrop. Commander, the camp has a mobile repair vehicle. It could come in helpful. See what you can do for them. But remember, protecting our landing zone is the top priority.

Northrop: We appreciate the help, Winfield Regiment.

Kendra: Can you tell us anything about the invaders?

Northrop: Only that they have a mighty high opinion of themselves. They look at us like bugs to be stepped on. But their best warriors, you can use that against them. Sometimes you can provoke them into single combat. It's all very formal, but we've bought ourselves some time doing that.

Holloway: Heads up, Commander. We have multiple Clan units moving on your position.

Holloway: One more wave coming in, be ready.

Kyle: They are persistent. I'll give them that.

Kendra: They spend lives like they were cheap munitions. Who are these people?

David: Overheating… Whoa… Way too hot.

Kendra: You aren't in a ForestryMech anymore. You have to watch your heat buildup. Try balancing your weapons fire between single salvoes and alpha strikes.

Holloway: Well, David can catch his breath, because that appears to be the last of them.

Kendra: They know where we are. We'll hear from them again.
