Planetary History[edit]

Star League[edit]

Oshika has long been a prefecture capital world. During the Star League era, the presence of large quantities of rare earths and germanium in its mountain ranges saw the planet's population grow to over 4 billion, with advanced industries present. This led to a sizable Star League Defense Force garrison being stationed on the world to secure its wealth.[33]

Succession Wars[edit]

Oshika's mineral wealth would not last forever. As resources ran dry, the world's remaining cities and industries were geared towards the efficient running of the government. The capital city, Takadanobaba, is located in Oshika's only mountain range, the Trilby Mountains.[2] The DCMS headquarters is also located here, which means political power would largely flow from the garrisoning military unit.[1]

The world has little incentive to attract additional population. Poor natural resources and food production requires the import of chemical fertilizers. In 3025 several entrepreneurs tried to raise the Oshika Ox (a cross between an elephant and a cow) for commercial export. The Oshika Ox was already a popular foodstuff on Oshika, and exporting the animal seemed a logical next step.[1]

By 3025, the planet had become the regimental headquarters for the Sixteenth Galedon Regulars. General Francisco Bevier would be in de facto control of the planet.[34]

Jihad[edit]

In 3079 however, no mention was made of the success or failure of the Oshika Ox exporting venture in a review of the planet. It is known, however, that herders of the large Oshika Ox require WorkMechs to do their job effectively.[2]
