Michael Bekker was a Bloodnamed warrior and commanding officer of the Ghost Bear Dominion's First Bear Guards during the Second Combine-Dominion War.[1]

History[edit]

During the Second Combine-Dominion War, Star Colonel Michael was tasked with leading a strike force of his First Bear Guards and the Third Bear Guards and 243rd Battle Clusters in the invasion of Clan Nova Cat's holdings on Asgard. The Dominion force's primary objective was the elimination of Clan Nova Cat's Nekoryu Keshik, Nova Cat Fusiliers, and Cat's Eye Clusters, which were present on-world in their entirety. Michael's troops made an almost uncontested landing on 14 June 3099 before pouring into the suburbs of the megacity of Vernan, destroying any vehicles large enough to convey Nova Cat troops or supplies and causing thousands of civilian casualties by nightfall. Upon reaching the city's central district, he ordered the 243rd Battle Cluster to form a rearguard against any Nova Cat surprise assault while the First and Third Bear Guards proceeded towards the empy Nova Cat sibko and administrative buildings.[1]

While Michael's Bears were demolishing the Nova Cat's structures, Nova Cat saKhan Paul Leroux ordered the BattleMechs of the Nekoryu Keshik and Cat's Eye Cluster—hidden within Vernan's buildings—to activate and push out against the engaged Bear Guards. The close confines of the central city's urban environments prevented Michael from utilizing his numerical superiority, leading to a week-long battle of street-to-street warfare. To compound the Bears' difficult situation, any warrior attempting to retreat to their landing zones for rest and refit risked being picked off by enemy aerospace fighters. However, the Dominion forces still managed to inflict significant losses on their Nova Cat foes and the enemy's aerospace forces in particular lost more and more fighters with each attack run they made. When saKhan Leroux ordered his men to withdraw on 1 July, Michael took advantage of the Cats leaving their defensive positions and ordered a major push against his retreating foes. In the ensuing panic, saKhan Leroux was killed and both the Nekoryu Keshik and Cat's Eye Clusters were destroyed, although the Nova Cat Fusiliers managed to survive and relocate to Avon.[1]
