Commander Billingsham lead a small group of mercenaries following the Gray Monday attacks and never lacked work as his unit traveled from conflict to conflict. Billingsham's mercenaries had participated in every major conflict since 3132—sometimes even on both sides—as a result of his preference for short-term contracts over long commitments with little autonomy. Employers usually did not object to Billingsham's terms due to their own understrength military forces, aside from one notable instance when he negotiated a new contract with the enemy over an open channel during the Capellan Confederation's invasion of Victoria.[1]
