Throughout its existence, top cadets of the New Avalon Institute of Science were placed directly in the AFFS Regular Army (and the AFFC while it existed), while most were assigned to the NAIS Training Cadre (also known as the College of Martial Sciences Cadet Cadre) to give graduates the real-life skills needed to stay alive on the battlefield.[1] Its large alumni base included Prince Ian Davion, Morgan Hasek-Davion, Dan Allard, and Duke Kai Allard-Liao.
History[edit]
Arguably the most prestigious military academy in the Inner Sphere of its time, CMS turned out over 1200 yearly high-quality cadets in all military specialties.[1] With the NAIS built on the former New Avalon Military Academy grounds, the CMS largely replaced the defunct NAMA. The NAMA was founded during the Star League years after the League took over Albion Military Academy. After the NAIS was built around the NAMA, it far eclipsed it in prestige; however, the institutions were reorganized, and NAMA was placed under the jurisdiction of the NAIS. Home to some of the most advanced training equipment in the Inner Sphere, CMS benefits from its close relationship with the NAIS, which seems to rediscover lost technology on a daily basis.
Jihad[edit]
After sustaining heavy casualties in the Jihad, the NAIS CMS Cadet Cadre was disbanded when Princess-Regent Yvonne Steiner-Davion signed the Academy Appropriations War Powers Act in 3078. This act conscripted the surviving members of the Training Cadre into the AFFS. As a result, the Cadres were disbanded in 3078 and integrated into the Davion Brigade of Guards. The future of the Cadre was unclear, but if reconstituted, it was expected to follow the LCT model.[2]
Officers[edit]
While ninety percent of the Cadres were staffed with CMS graduates on a two-year tour, senior officers from company commander up were AFFS or AFFC veterans.[1][3]

Tactics[edit]
Different per Unit. Not meant to be subjected to heavy fighting, the Cadres's inctructors were ordered to extract themselves and their student charges from battle as quickly as possible.[1][3]

Color Scheme and Insignia[edit]
The Cadet Cadres used standard Davion green when requiring parade colors. The CMS Cadre's insignia was a set of one white and one black diamond on a green hexagonal shield, with "College of Martial Sciences" above. Each numbered cadre placed its numeral below.[1]
