Planetary History[edit]

In the mid-3060s a pirate band known as the Crimson Sabres struck at Novo Tressida killing a number of people, including Duke Tremain Garson. This lead to the combined arms mercenary unit Pike's Pikemen being hired to protect both the planet and the new Duke, Cornel Garson. On 6 July 3066, the Sabres attempted to assassinate Cornel during a visit to a number of new farming communities. The pirates struck near Farming Station 134, ambushing the Duke, his escort from the Pikemen and elements of the Ducal Guard. While the Sabres killed half of the Ducal Guard and inflicted heavy damage on two of the armoured vehicles and three of the 'Mechs from the Pikemen, seven Sabre 'Mechs were downed. The senior Sabres' officer on the field, Hanson Toliver, was captured during the battle, and quickly revealed that the Sabres were funded by Baron Keith Garson, Cornel's cousin and second in the line of succession to the Duke's title. The Baron managed to evade capture and flee, but the Pikemen earned the thanks of the Duke and a bonus for their actions.[32]

Notes[edit]

The short story Old Legends Never Die is set on Novo Tressida, although due to an editing oversight several references within the story are erroneously made to Milligan's World as the planet on which the story takes place. According to this story, Novo Tressida has a breathable atmosphere and no moon. The environment around the Lost Tavern at the edge of Silas' Outpost (where the story takes place) is described as arid/desert, though with several indigenous flora and fauna species.
