History[edit]
Ellingsen was born on Prato. He owned the Frumious III, a battered Explorer-class JumpShip.[1]
At some point shortly prior to 3025, he found the wrecked hull of the Andromeda, a Star League JumpShip of unspecified class. This discovery made him rich and popular.[1]
In 3033, Ellingsen finally deciphered the map to a Star League storehouse his father gave him.[3] The map pointed to Illyria, a planet long rumored to have Star League Castles Brian.[4] Ellingsen mounted an expedition to Illyria and discovered a Castle Brian containing not only SLDF matériel, but a memory core almost the identical to that found four years earlier on Helm. Unfortunately for Ellingsen, he never obtained permission for the expedition from the Illyrian Palatinate and a joint Palatinate-ComStar arrested him for illegal salvage. Following a show trial Ellingsen was sentenced to 40 years in prison. His fiancée, Sheena MacGillicudy spearheaded an effort to free him, raising funds from across the League. Given the Illyrian proclivity for bribery these efforts likely succeeded. [5][6][7]
In 3025, he had fallen for Sheena McGillicuddy, a cashier in a leather shop.[1] It is unknown if Ellingsen married, but he had at least a son, Jose.[2]
Notes[edit]
Even as of 3072, the find of the Andromeda was still used as a metaphor for a fantastically valuable find in a "winning the lottery" fashion.[8]
