Pietr Shadd was the commander of Wolfnet in 3067. When the Republic of the Sphere was founded he went on to become the first Ghost Paladin.[4][2]

History[edit]

In or around 3036 Pietr was freeborn to an Elemental phenotype father who became a MechWarrior. Raised in a Dragoon sibko, he obtained the Shadd Honorname in 3053.[4]

As Elson's Challenge begun in 3054, Pietr Shadd served as Jaime Wolf's champion for an unaugmented Trial, which he lost. This lose and the refusal of Jaimie Wolf to accept the results was the starting point for the Dragoon Civil War.[5] Shadd participated in the supply raid on Blackwell Industries, as well as harrying the rear of Beta Regiment during this conflict.[6][7]

Shadd was promoted to Major in 3055, and from then until at least 3059 he commanded the Special Recon Group.[8][9]

By 3067 Shadd, now a Colonel, commanded the Special Operations Command which contained the Special Recon Group, Seventh Kommando, and Wolfnet.[10][3]

At some point prior to Jaimie Wolf's death, Wolf personally gave Shadd the M-11J "Cloaking Device" he had used to smuggle Minobu Tetsuhara's swords into the wedding reception of Hanse Davion and Melissa Steiner.[2]

Shadd's activities in the Word of Blake Jihad are unknown, but he remained active and effective to such a degree that when the Republic of the Sphere formed Devlin Stone and David Lear asked him to become the first Ghost Paladin. Using the moniker "The Dove," Shadd continued directing covert missions against the enemies of the Republic. He followed his own agenda as he had done since 3068, believing he had the duty and right to do the dirty work without respect to oversight and laws so the Exarch wouldn't have to dirty himself. It wasn't until a 3090 interaction with Ghost Knight known only as DeMarco that Shadd realized his Successions War mentality not only had no place in this new age, but could be detrimental to the Republic he sought to serve. On or shortly before 2 February 3091, after authoring a note to Stone and Lear where he endorsed DeMarco as his replacement, Shadd asphyxiated himself with a bag over his head.[2]

Battlesuit[edit]

Pietr Shadd utilized Elemental body armor.[4]

Quote[edit]

"God does not judge. Man judges, and sends other men to God in judgment, but God forgives. Free will is an illusion. Sin is an illusion. You cannot go against God. Everything we do, no matter how horrible, fits into his plan. If you are a monster, it is because God made you one."[2]

Notes[edit]

  • Pietr's identity as "The Dove" was given as clues in Ghosts and confirmed with the author. As with anything that was not explicitly stated, later sources might revise this information. The clues were DeMarco's janitorial ID "Antonin Deshhan" and the personal gift of the M-11J by Wolf.
