Pop

Pop was an addictive drug produced using the seeds of the papaver flower. Pop damaged the body and the mind, and addiction was slow, but strong; those who were addicted could, desperate for a constant supply of pop, grow highly aggressive, attacking anyone that might have more.

As of 2581, one major site of pop production, driven by organized crime, was the independent city-state of Tierapolvo, found on the Taurian planet of Traussin. That year, the overall pop trade was, according to Traussin-based Taurian Defense Force Brigadier Adriano Marquez, worth enough that it would be the fourth-largest economy in the Periphery.
