System Information

The Porthos system was home to at least one habitable world or construct and as of 3145 was located in the Periphery region known as The Barrens.[1][2]

System Description[edit]

The Porthos system is located near the Santander V and Thule systems.[1][2]

System History[edit]

The Porthos system was colonized by the faction known as the Inheritors[3] and was either colonized during the Third Succession War or became significant enough during this era for Inner Sphere nations to begin recording its location on maps.[4][5][6][7]

Planetary History[edit]

The Succession Wars[edit]

Third Succession War[edit]

Porthos was originally settled by Inheritors from the Elysian Fields.[35][3]

The Draconis Combine had a small garrison defending a depot on the planet on 3024 when pirates led by Helmar Valasek raided the planet with a Union-class DropShip. Locusts, Wasps and Stingers led a lighting attack and were able to seize the supplies they wanted and escaped off-world.[16]

As of 3025, it was considered to have only "recently" been colonized. This leads to the belief that the world and system were unpopulated prior to the 31st Century.[35][3]

Clan Invasion[edit]

Operation Revival[edit]

The system was quickly conquered by Clan Ghost Bear during Operation REVIVAL in September 3049. When the Ghost Bears originally arrived they had expected no resistance, only to find a single warrior standing in their way. Uchi Tikidomo, formerly of the DCMS, who had retired to Porthos where he had planned to live out his days in peace after serving with distinction in the War of 3039. Tikimodo met the Ghost Bears at their landing site near Deson Ranch in his Archer BattleMech and promptly challenged them for control of his defenseless world. The Ghost Bears immediately accepted his challenge, and Star Captain Ian DelVillar of Ourse Keshik's Alpha OmniMech Star won the right to face off in his Nova BattleMech against Tikidomo. While the mismatched fight ended in a predictable fashion, Tikidomo's tenacity in the face of adversity so impressed the Star Captain that he agreed to hire the former warrior as a liaison between the planet's government and their new Clan overlords.[36]

Civil War[edit]

First Combine-Dominion War[edit]

At some time during the First Combine-Dominion War, the 13th Sun Zhang Academy Cadre of the DCMS raided Porthos, one of the few worlds where Clan Ghost Bear had not launched an attack from. While there, the 13th seriously damaged the Clan Ghost Bear's Fifth Phalanx before withdrawing.[37]

Dark Age[edit]

The Bears had trouble integrating the system into their Occupation Zone and more problems integrating it into the Ghost Bear Dominion. In the early 3090s, the Bears saw that Clan Hell's Horses was just giving up on some marginal systems, and decided to follow suit. Porthos was handed back to the Inheritors and the Bears withdrew to more complex systems. Porthos later joined with Santander V to form the proto-state known as The Havens.[3]

According to an apocryphal source,[42] the inhabited world in the Porthos system is in fact named Porthos-Delta, and is a moon with a breathable atmosphere orbiting a very large gas giant in the system.
