Planetary History[edit]
Even at the height of the Star League era Premana was considered something of an isolated system, as ships traveling to the system via inhabited systems - rather than taking the riskier option of traveling through uninhabited systems - were forced to either approach from the Rimward direction, or journey outside of Commonwealth space.[30]
During the mid-twenty-eighth century baseball was a popular sport on Premana, with various leagues running; following the posting of the Twentieth Skye Rangers to Premana, the Rangers' Commanding Officer, Colonel Arturius Lesko, founded a regimental baseball team as a response to the relatively isolated nature of the posting. The Rangers team played competitively against professional local teams originally, and performed well enough to be invited to join the local league, rising steadily to the point where they were the planetary champions in 2765. This frustrated a number of local franchise owners - owners who included some of the most powerful nobles on the planet - who began agitating for the LCAF to reassign the Rangers, but lacked the influence to actually persuade or force the LCAF to acquiesce to their demands.[30]
