Rachelle Mikazuki, call sign Red Dragon One, was the commanding officer of the Amaterasu as of 3111.[1]

Major Mikazuki was commander of the Amaterasu as of 3111 and lead the unit throughout the Capellan Crusades.[1] The Amaterasu's most notable contribution to the conflict occurred on 8 March 3113 when Chancellor Sun-Tzu Liao brought the Red Lancers and Death Commandos to Liao in order to end the stalemate on the world. When the Chancellor's troops resupplied the battered Dynasty Guard and ambushed the unprepared Ninth Hastati Sentinels in the ruins of the city of Chang-an, it was the Amaterasu's arrival that steeled the Republic forces' resolve. When Chancellor Liao dropped from the sky in a golden Emperor and declared the planet and its people his, it was Mikazuki who gave the order to bring him down. Unfortunately, the aging Chancellor planned for the effect his death would have on the Capellan troops, as the rage his fall imbued them with enabled them to push the Republic forces out of the city and put them on the defensive.[2]
