History[edit]

The Red Hell, a mercenary unit of unspecified size and composition under Captain Parker Don Hua, was banned by the Mercenary Review and Bonding Commission from employment by any Great House of the Inner Sphere for savagery during a raid on a Word of Blake compound in or before 3057. The ill-reputed unit subsequently took contracts in the Periphery but there, too, had "torn up one too many towns" before long. They were eventually hired, apparently outside of MRBS auspices, by Stefan Amaris VII's right-hand man Kemper Varas; it was implied that even in the periphery, no one else would hire the Red Hell anymore.[1]

On 13 April 3057, when meeting Stefan Amaris VII for the first time amidst his new recruits on New St. Andrews, Captain Parker Don Hua openly refused for his men to wear uniforms and maintained his refusal even when Stefan Amaris VII reminded him of an explicit contract stipulation, believing his employer had no means of enforcing the point. For this, Parker Don Hua was shot on the spot by Amaris as an example against insubordination.[1]

Taking up service with Amaris's forces and having their leader getting shot for insubordination likely terminated the Red Hell as a coherent unit. In any case, the base on New St. Andrews was overrun by the Knights of the Inner Sphere three months later, and the Amaris forces were wiped out with extreme prejudice. The Red Hell was not mentioned again, strongly suggesting they were obliterated.
