Richard Carson was the commanding officer of the Fourth McCarron's Armored Cavalry Regiment and a Barduc Lord of the Capellan Confederation.[1]

Lord Richard Carson was appointed to command of the Fourth McCarron's Armored Cavalry sometime prior to 3063 by Marcus Baxter. Along with this command, Carson was entrusted with the care and training of Baxter's adoptive daughter, Faith McCarron, one of Archibald McCarron's two heirs. Carson accepted his role fully intent on leading the regiment only until the junior McCarron was ready to assume command. As was traditional, the unit updated its name to "Carson's Cavaliers" in honor of their new commanding officer.[1]
Carson shepherded Faith through the various leadership roles, allowing her to rise from a simple company commander in 3067 to his executive officer in 3079.[2] In 3081, impressed by her deft diplomatic handling of the conflict between the Fourth MAC and the Republic of the Sphere on Hsien, Carson chose to retire and at last pass command of the regiment on to her.[3]
