Richard Huang was a hover tank crewman in the Second Reconnaissance Platoon of the Sixth Syrtis Fusiliers' Eighteenth Verlo Armored Regiment during the Jihad.[1]

Private First Class Huang, along with his platoon commander Leftenant Samantha Deveraux and his crewmates Sergeant Sergei Mitchell and Private Charlene Thomas, operated the command vehicle of the Eighteenth Verlo Armored Regiment's Second Recon Platoon. During the Capellan Confederation's invasion of New Syrtis in 3069, Huang's crew performed extremely well in the fighting against the invaders. In a series of attacks against Capellan supply lines and patrol groups, Huang's hover tank personally accounted for the loss of seven enemy BattleMechs and twenty-one enemy vehicles, with his tank's hover technology enabling his crew to quickly escape over impassable terrain after every strike.[1]
