Robert Craon was the executive officer of Delta Company of the Davion Light Guards during the Fourth Succession War.[1]
History[edit]
Leftenant Craon, serving under Captain Andrew Redburn, was executive officer of the Davion Light Guards' Delta Company during the Fourth Succession War. In 3029, Delta Company was stationed on Bethel when it came under attack from a mixed force of Fourth Tau Ceti Rangers and Capellan Confederation Special Forces troops. Captain Redburn responded by placing Craon in charge of 23 of Delta's 27 BattleMechs—responsible for defending Bethel's industrial center—before taking the remaining 4 machines in order to defend the unit's base at Fort David. Craon quickly determined that the Capellan forces assaulting his men were a diversion for the real strike at Fort David and the secret New Avalon Institute of Science facility beneath it and hoped to drive off his foes in time to assist Captain Redburn's lance.[1]
When the Fourth Tau Ceti Rangers disembarked from their DropShips, Craon realized that his heavier 'Mechs and supporting armor could punch through the enemy's lines if done so properly. The initial fighting was quick, with the Rangers trying to eliminate the Guards from range as Craon's men rapidly closed the distance. When Craon's Von Luckner tanks crested a ridge behind the Rangers' lines, a panicked recruit reported to the Ranger's CO that an entire company of armor had appeared on their flank. Craon's men continued to harry the Rangers as they retreated and took very light overall casualties by the time the fighting ceased. Unfortunately, Captain Redburn's command lance was unable to prevent the theft of NAIS resources when his unit encountered Justin Xiang Allard's special forces detachment and was disabled.[1]
As part of Delta Company, Craon was inducted into the First Kathil Uhlans when Morgan Hasek-Davion formed the unit to defend Kathil from an imminent Liao strategic strike. Promoted to command of a militia company, Craon participated in the Davion defense against the assault by the Death Commandos and Fourth Tau Ceti Rangers. Unfortunately, Craon's attempt to hold back the Liao forces was in vain, as a Capellan Cataphract struck his Hunchback in the head with a backhand blow, crushing its cockpit and crippling Craon, costing him the use of his arm and both legs.
