"Slick" Sam Gorpley was the commanding officer of Third Company, First Battalion of the Tenth Deneb Light Cavalry during the late Succession Wars Era and Clan Invasion Era.[1]
History[edit]
Captain Gorpley was renowned as the best poker player in the entire Deneb Light Cavalry brigade and claimed that he had been playing the game since before he could walk. In one particularly notable instance, Gorpley's opponents got him drunk enough to forget the entire night, although this did not prevent him from defeating them. He was equally reckless in combat and would often engage in close-up duels with heavier opponents after outpacing the rest of his allies. While his skills allowed him to survive his battles with minimal damage, the men under his command suffered heavy losses when he encouraged them to fight with similar tactics.[1]

Captain Sam Gorpley piloted a -5D model Spider BattleMech during the Succession Wars. During the Clan Invasion, he piloted a -7M model Spider.[1]
