Samantha Deveraux was the commanding officer of the Second Reconnaissance Platoon of the Sixth Syrtis Fusiliers' Eighteenth Verlo Armored Regiment during the Jihad.[1]

Leftenant Deveraux, along with her crew members Sergeant Sergei Mitchell, Private First Class Richard Huang, and Private Charlene Thomas, fought exceptionally well against the Capellan Confederation invasion of New Syrtis in 3069. Deveraux's crew personally accounted for seven Capellan BattleMechs and twenty-one enemy combat vehicles in the fighting, constantly attacking supply lines and smaller patrols. Deveraux's ability to quickly retreat over impassable terrain, such as New Syrtis' oceans and ice sheets, enabled her crew to survive repeated encounters with enemy forces.[1]
