Vasly was the interim leader, of the New Avalon Institute of Science's College of Chemistry, as of 3025. Her temporary appointment arose, due to a scandal ending the career of the former Dean Deflin Saunders, who was caught selling scientific secrets developed at the college to private companies. Inheriting a college in turmoil, as of 3025 it was thought she was eventually be appointed as the College's new permanent Dean, though a final decision had yet to be announced.[1]
