Planetary History[edit]

Star League Era[edit]

Sappho was settled by the Capellan Confederation during the Star League era and was a part of the Sian Commonality.[3][4]

First Succession War[edit]

Sappho was conquered by the Free Worlds League between 2786 and 2791.[8] In mid-2804 Captain-General Thaddeus Marik withdrew all of the federal troops from the Duchy of Oriente in retaliation for Duke Carter Allison objecting to Thaddeus' claim to the title of Captain-General of the Free Worlds League. When the Capellan Strategios was able to confirm the withdrawal of the Free Worlds League Military troops, they responded by immediately deploying forward troops from Anegasaki, Ipswich and Pella II to assault systems within the Duchy, making swift gains including the recapture of Sappho.[9]

In 2805 the Strategios stripped the defending garrison on Sappho of troops to launch a third attack on Oriente, determined to try and capture the world and cripple a key Free Worlds League province before Thaddeus could send reinforcements. The deployment orders arrived at very short notice, surprising the troops on Sappho, and the lack of available transport vessels forced the units there to deploy without their infantry and armor assets. The attack failed thanks to the arrival of Thaddeus at the head of a substantial naval fleet and ground task force, and in 2806 the Free Worlds League had returned to the offensive. By the end of 2806 Sappho was back under League control.[10]

Third Succession War[edit]

Sappho vanished from maps during the Third Succession War[12][13] indicating that the planet had been abandoned or depopulated.
