Scouring of Tamar

The Scouring of Tamar was a nuclear attack of the Word of Blake against the planet Tamar, capital of Clan Wolf occupation Zone, during the Jihad.

History[edit]

The Word of Blake Jihad didn't affected directly the Clans initially. However, even busy fighting almost all the other Successor States at the same time, directly or indirectly, the Blakists' deep hate of the Clans made an attack inevitable. The Jihad reached the Wolves the 28th of December 3070. The Blakists didn't land ground forces on Tamar; instead, the attack consisted of nuclear strikes aimed at a number of heavily populated areas, including the Clan Wolf headquarters. The attack on Tamar, capital world of the Clan Wolf Occupation Zone, coincided with an attack on Arc-Royal, the capital world of Clan Wolf-in-Exile.[1] On the 1st of April 3080 Tamar was reestablished as the capital world for Clan Wolf in the wake of the Jihad.[2] The bombardment proved to be a devastating blow against Clan Wolf, as 17 separate nuclear explosions killed over 2.5 million people, with saKhan Marialle Radick representing the most prominent fatality. The First Wolf Assault Cluster and the Golden Keshik were effectively destroyed, with the rest of Alpha Galaxy taking severe losses with two-thirds of their defending ground forces wiped out. Multiple factories were annihilated, severely crippling the Clan's military industrial complex.[3]

Consequences[edit]

The Wolves' losses were enormous: the planet's key infrastructure, industrial and administrative (even more important, because the Wolves, previously, have refused to build industries in its Occupation Zone, relying mostly of those they have in the Clan Homeworlds) was lost. The full extent of damage wasn't known for months, and was enormous; a good portion of Tamar's infrastructure had been shattered, and a large portion of the Tiberius continent's power grid was disrupted. The planetary HPG was destroyed too.

Also, the scouring of Tamar demoralized the Wolf touman, leaving them very vulnerable to the Clan Hell's Horses invasion.[4]

Legacy[edit]

The Wolves' weakness forced Ward to make bold moves, arranging a truce with the Lyran Commonwealth and negotiating the acquisition of new forces from Clan Coyote. Fearing than his Clan's weakness attracted more enemies, Vlad ordered an immediate communication blackout, hiding the devastation until the Khan himself announced it to the Grand Council, calling for reprisals against the Blakists. However, this move accomplished nothing; the Clans were too focused on their Wars of Reaving.[5]

However, the destruction of Clan Wolf master genetic repository had much more immediate consequences; most of the scientist personnel were killed, and over ninety percent of the legacies were destroyed or rendered unusable by radiation.

The need for clean genetic legacies to rebuild the repository, and the Clan Hell's Horses invasion of the rear of Clan Wolf occupation zone decided the Wolf Clan Vlad Ward to make a bold move; his Clan abandoned the Clan Homeworlds, launching Operation DAMOCLES II, one target of which was the retrieval of the Wolves' genetic legacies on Strana Mechty[6]
