Overview[edit]
In this battle, recon elements of the Fourth Deneb Light Cavalry were hidden in a recreational lake known as Waterhole Number Nine. With their BattleMechs in standby mode and submerged underwater, they were undetectable to the passing Draconis Combine force focused upon the nearby Federated Suns defensive line. Suddenly, Combine BattleMechs began to fall as the recon units, piloting mostly Javelins, emerged to hit their targets at point-blank range from the rear. Meanwhile, the Davion units holding the defensive line attacked the confused and disorganized Combine units.[2]
The Combine forces suffered heavy losses in this battle and a short time later evacuated Cylene II.[2]
Notes[edit]
The underwater Javelin ambush is technically impossible as SRM-6s cannot be fired underwater. However, Technical Readout: 3025 (1986) predates the Underwater Combat rules which first appeared in BattleTech Manual: The Rules of Warfare (1987). For continuity sake it's likely these Javelins were refitted with SRT-6s specifically for this ambush.
