Seychelles' Stonehearts was an independent Republic of the Sphere unit turned mercenary command.[1]
History[edit]
The Stonehearts started life as Paladin Janella Lakewood's fallback plan for the coming Clan invasion of Terra. A team of Republic Armed Forces regulars and Ghost Knights tasked with evacuating Devlin Stone if necessary, the Stonehearts were never called to do their task, and when Terra fell and Stone was killed, they departed to Keid. Rejecting the stand-down order all RAF forces were given, the Stonehearts turned mercenaries of sorts, operating around the former Republic.[1]
As mercenaries, the Stonehearts quickly built a reputation for taking on difficult tasks and succeeding. Along the way, they sought to empty hidden RAF caches around the territory. Commanding officer Colonel Reynard Seychelles worked on growing the unit through mergers with other new mercenary commands, and the Stonehearts recruited new members as they worked. New members were vetted by the Ghost Knights with high standards for entry, and most were not let in on the company's background.[1]
The Stonehearts soon found themselves split along factional lines. Colonel Seychelles aimed to restore the Republic, an ambition that received pushback from several Ghost Knights. Growing internal unrest threatened the unit.[1]
