The Silver Eagle was a modified Monarch-class civilian passenger DropShip in the early thirty-first century, owned by the Monopole company and captained by Captain Stefan von Breunig.[1] The Silver Eagle was part of the incident that took place in the early part of the thirty-first century to which it gave its name.

History[edit]

The ship was to carry passengers from the Lyran Commonwealth and the Federated Suns, passing through the Terran corridor of the Inner Sphere. It was hijacked in May of 3027 by unknown agents who were later identified as part of the Heimdall resistance movement.

The ship's passengers, which included then-Leftenant Andrew Redburn, were taken to a desolate planetoid base located in the Draconis Combine's Styx star system. The kidnappers announced to the captured passengers that a Fury-class infantry carrier from the Draconis Combine had been spotted approaching the asteroid base. It was later revealed to the passengers and kidnappers that one of the passengers was the Lyran Commonwealth's Archon-Designate Melissa Steiner, traveling incognito. This revelation led the kidnappers to ally with the passengers to fight off the Draconis Combine forces and prevent her capture.

Two groups of forces of the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery consisting of the newly formed Genyosha Regiment arrive on the desolated planetoid in Styx system where Heimdall asteroid base was located and assaulted the planetoid looking for Melissa Steiner. Together, the passengers and Heimdall fought off the assault until the arrival of the Kell Hounds mercenary battalion. The ship was ultimately able to escape thanks to the efforts of Captain Dan Allard and the sacrifice of Patrick Kell. The ship continued to New Avalon with Kell Hounds in escort. Hanse Davion ordered the creation of a monument in memory of the people who died in the hijacking, which includes Kell and the ship's Captain Stefan von Breunig.

Notes[edit]

  • The Silver Eagle is a modified Monarch class ship. The owning company had the vessel's two cargo bays removed to increase the passenger capacity to 350 passengers.[1] It was also refitted for extra luxurious cruising; the ship dining quarters were united in a large area instead of smaller class divided dining areas common to Monarch-class vessels.[2]
