Description[edit]
A Solaris VII BattleMech, the Silver Fox uses an XXL engine to provide a lot of speed for low weight. The increased size of this engine leaves little room for weapons, but given how fast the Silver Fox is this usually isn't a problem. To protect the 'Mech, Innovative Design Concepts added seven tons of ArcShield reflective armor, which while only as effective as standard armor against missiles or autocannons, provides superior protection against energy weapons common to the arenas. To provide more protection, IDC additionally installed an Angel ECM suite in the 'Mech's right torso; this electronic warfare package will interrupt Artemis IV, Streak, and Narc fire control systems.[3]
Weapons and Equipment[edit]
The Silver Fox's main armament are its five Poland Main Model C Magshots and its two Diverse Optics ER medium lasers, backed up by a single Diverse Optics ER small laser. All these weapons are linked to an advanced targeting computer.[4]
Variants[edit]
- SVR-5Y
- This variant of the Silver Fox uses less expensive components. The 315-rated XXL engine is replaced with a smaller 245-rated light engine. The rare Angel ECM suite of the original is exchanged for the more common Guardian ECM suite. The weapons array and armor remains the same as the SVR-5X. BV (2.0) = 1,316[5]
