The Sixth Fides Defenders were formed sometime between 3145 and 3149, the waning years of the Republic of the Sphere, on the orders of Exarch Jonah Levin as part of an attempt to infuse the flexibility and discipline of the Fidelis into a regimental size organization.

History

The Sixth Fides would accompany the Republic relief forces sent to aid the beleaguered Northwind Highlanders at the Battle of Northwind, during the Capellan Confederation’s Operation CLARITY in 3150. Initially landing their two ‘Mech battalions on New Lanark, the battalions would split up to engage their assigned targets. While the Defenders Second Battalion struck the First Canopian Lancers in Tara, their First Battalion moved on the HPG compound, nearly forcing the Fourth McCarron's Armored Cavalry from the area before reinforcements from Warrior House Imarra arrived to bolster the defense.

The Sixth would later send several companies out in defense of Tara during the Hikage and Fourth Dieron Regulars advance on the city. Under orders not to fire first, the Sixth and the Combine force passed by one another without incident, before the Hikage ultimately began attacking any Capellan forces in sight as punishment for a perceived earlier betrayal.

Using the Hikage and Fourth Dieron as a distraction, the Sixth was intended to board dropships and take the HPG compound before the Capellans could fall back, but were prevented when the Fourth MAC abandoned their forward positions early and made their stand outside the compound. Instead, the SpecOps battalion would send four squads of Nighthawk Mk. XXX power armor alongside Grey Watch infiltration teams to plant demolition charges on the HPG dish and evacuate personnel while the Sixth’s BattleMech forces would link up with the Grey Watch to hammer the Imarra forces outside the compound, cutting off the Fourth MAC’s line of retreat to the spaceport. Setting off the demolition charges would destroy the above ground portions of the HPG, leaving the Combine and Confederation forces to believe that all strategic advantage to holding the Northwind had been removed. Both forces would fall back and leave the planet shortly afterward.

The Sixth Fides appears to have departed Northwind with the rest of the Republic relief force heading to defend Terra from the Clans.
