Social Decay During the Reign of Prince Joseph was a written work, authored by Duke Michael Getherton and published by Avalon Press, in 3009.[1]

This work provided an account of social issues which arose during the reign of First Prince Joseph Davion, including the development of MechWarrior brotherhoods, who used their power and social prestige in order to enrich themselves illegally. The work noted these brotherhoods, such as the New Syrtis based Royal Order of MechWarriors and Brotherhood of Honor, grew so powerful that they were able to extort even planetary governments such as on Bethel and Andro.
The work also recounted the efforts of the Soldiery of the New Avalon Catholic Church, which sought to oppose the brotherhoods in the name of good order and morals, even to the extent of fighting battles with them such as on Hobbs in 2921 which resulted in the loss of eight BattleMechs between the two sides.[1]
