Society for Adaptive Evolution

The Society for Adaptive Evolution was a group that promoted modifying humans instead of extensive terraforming.[1]

History[edit]

Galen Harvey, medical historian, said that this shadowy group operated on Terra from 2150 onward, first as a study group but later an open advocacy organization. In the twenty-second century they secured the interest of the Expansionist Party and conducted terrible experiments in hidden laboratories. Admiral James McKenna proscribed the group, which went underground and helped organize the Green Platform Against Terraforming.

They ended up involved in terrorism, attempting to sabotage the Martian environment and introduce a retroviral plague on Caph. The fanatics grew insistent that a new humanity had to be created through genetic engineering, right until they disappeared into the Magistracy of Canopus.[1]

Notes[edit]

The existence of this group cannot be confirmed by any other source, but it is true that at least during the Star League Era, Star League scientists on Frobisher used the planet's ocean to conduct experiments in modifying the human genome. The Star League spent billions of dollars creating underwater living quarters and laboratories on land. After years of research, the scientific teams had created a group of humans who could live entirely underwater.[2]
