Solomon Hasek was the commanding officer of the Fifth Syrtis Fusiliers during the War of 3039.[1]

On August 30 3039, General Hasek and the Fifth Syrtis Fusiliers landed on Markab to claim the world for the Federated Suns. Although the Fifth Fusiliers had not fought in any other battles since being rebuilt, they performed well in combat against Markab's militia. In fact, the unit's background as a Capellan March force rather than a Draconis March unit may have enabled them to handle local unrest more effectively than more elite units would have—it would later be said that a massacre on the same scale of Kentares would have occurred if a unit like the Robinson Rangers had taken Markab. While it still took Hasek's forces several months and the arrival of additional infantry units to maintain martial law, the planet would be successfully integrated into the Federated Suns by the close of 3039.[1]
