History[edit]
The Star Warriors were a mercenary unit of regimental size, and as of October 3027[1] were in the employ of House Steiner. By this time the unit had seen 27 major actions and numerous smaller skirmishes and holding actions, mostly working for House Davion, and had a high opinion of themselves. In October 3027 they took part in an invasion of the Ramsau system as a short-term contract for Steiner. As part of the invasion plan a small detachment of six BattleMechs from the Star Warriors was deployed to Ramsau's large tidally locked moon Ramsau III-A aka Gordo, with orders to destroy Gordo Alpha base, an enemy Command, Control & Communication facility. The attacks—both on Gordo and on Ramsau III proper—ran into stronger-than-expected resistance and the invasion force retreated before committing fully. The Star Warriors lost a Griffin in the fighting on Gordo.[2]
The attack against Ramsau was carried out by one Overlord and six Union-class DropShips carrying the main BattleMech strike force, plus three wings of aerospace fighters and six Leopard-class DropShips carrying armor and infantry, in addition to the modified Leopard that brought six 'Mechs to Gordo. It is not stated whether all of the combat troops and DropShips were part of the Star Warriors mercenary regiment.[2]
