Description[edit]

Commissioned by Clan Jade Falcon Khan Samantha Clees, and intended as a bridge between the available Elemental and Ironhold battlesuits, the Stormbird was the result of collaboration between Falcon resources and Clan Snow Raven science[3]. The collaboration was a necessity due to the Wars of Reaving tearing through the Jade Falcon scientist caste, leaving a hole that was felt two decades after the fact. The proposed anti-infantry role for the Stormbird interested the Snow Ravens, who desired a similar-sized suit with a similar operational profile[3]. The final result was not the versatile platform expected by the Falcons, with the design closely matching the already available Salamander [3]. For the Snow Ravens however, the Stormbird proved to be an immense success providing them with fire-resistant armor that had thus far proved impossible to produce. With the bulk of production going to the Ravens they were able to set up their own factory before the Falcons ended the contract via a trial [3]. In the aftermath the Ravens considered the damage to their relations with the Falcons as an acceptable loss while the Falcons attempted to refit the Stormbird to a more generalist profile, with mixed results[3].

Weapons and Equipment[edit]

The right arm mounts a Heavy Flamer with twenty shots, and an Advanced SRM 3 with five shots is installed in the suit's body. No secondary anti-personnel weapons are mounted.

Variants[edit]

  • Jade Falcon
This variant is produced by Clan Jade Falcon, also starting in 3092. This version replaces the arm-mounted weapon with an AP Gauss Rifle with 20 shots, and downgrades the Advanced SRM launcher to a normal SRM 3 with four reloads. This version also added jump capability, at the expense of half of its groundspeed. To further increase versatility, Inner Sphere tech Magnetic Clamps were also added. BV (2.0) = 84[2]
