Talk:Miniatures - Ral Partha

creating new page to subdivide RalPartha miniatures from List of Miniatures based on era. Will eventually convert List of Miniatures into a navigation page, and link to this page. But keeping List of Miniatures page intact until this page is complete. Dude RB (talk) 23:16, 7 May 2021 (EDT)

Update 1.0: Decided to break down by miniatures line rather than era, but incorporate some history under edach as relevant. List of Miniatures page has now been renamed to Miniatures and reorganized into a main landing page. Old List of Miniatures is current available through Miniatures - Ral Partha (Uncategorized). Also the latter page is tracking any miniatures from that list that have not been confirmed and moved to a home in one of the current Miniatures pages. --Dude RB (talk) 17:45, 12 June 2021 (EDT)
Update 1.1: Decided to restructure further. Placing history and background in its major section (to permit more continuous readability) and the tables/lists of miniatures in its own major section (the data section). Also this may facilitate editing of the history and context sections by other editors without needing to wade through tables. A similar structure may also help Miniatures - Iron Wind Metals. --Dude RB (talk) 21:29, 12 June 2021 (EDT)

"Pieces" Column[edit]

I assume "Pieces" is the same as what is listed on the blister packs? Is this column really necessary? If it is kept, perhaps it should be explained/defined so readers don't confuse pieces (sprues) with the actual number of parts in each miniature.--Cache (talk) 22:05, 18 May 2021 (EDT)

That column is a carry-over from the original "List of Miniatures" page (and which is for the time being preserved under "Miniatures - Ral Partha (Uncategorized)". I sought to preserve the information that was originally compiled, as partial as it was, but at present I don't foresee an easy way to fill in the gaps in that field. So the value of that column would need to weighed to make a final decision. (Shunting it to an appendix or archive may be a potential option.) A description would be a simple (though perhaps interim) resolution of the matter. --Dude RB (talk) 23:08, 18 May 2021 (EDT)

Pewter Spelling[edit]

Cache, thanks for the copy edits and other improvements. One quick note. I double checked a few different sources and found confirmation that the proper spelling for Ral Partha's lead-free pewter is "Ralidium". I will enter this change.--Dude RB (talk) 22:07, 19 May 2021 (EDT)

(Just now saw this) Oops... Ralidium looks like one of those things I've been spelling wrong for years.--Cache (talk) 17:58, 11 June 2021 (EDT)

Lead to Ralidium Conversion[edit]

Here's an old article that I saw pointed out today. Chuck Crain and Mike Noe being interviewed about the conversion away from lead: Finding the right formula --Cache (talk) 17:58, 11 June 2021 (EDT)

This is a nice article. I see two things that can be harvested from this. (i) The composition and characteristics of the different alloys. I will see about weaving that info into this page and also in the metal miniatures section of Miniatures. (ii) The transition and its relation to the corporate health/history regarding Ral Partha. I will leave a copy of this on the Iron Wind Metals talk page, which is currently where the Ral Partha corporate history stub appears to be currently housed. --Dude RB (talk) 17:39, 12 June 2021 (EDT)
